Analyzing the Importance of Preserving Traditional Crafts and Developing Sustainable Tourism

Over the past decade, the Chuong Village Poetry Club has published four poetry collections with nearly a thousand poems celebrating the homeland, preserving cultural nuances

Introduction

Growing up in the cradle of one of the country's greatest cultural treasures, every child of Chuong village understands their personal responsibility toward heritage.

How to preserve cultural heritages?

First and foremost, we must consider cultural heritage such as Chuong Market.

Chuong Market is the "cultural cradle" of Chuong village and a shared asset of the community. Families living near the market are prohibited from expanding or encroaching on public land for private use.

According to historical inscriptions, Chuong Market has existed for a long time, originating alongside Chuong village approximately 1,700 years ago. The market has been a bustling trading hub for 350 years (1663 - 2013), and thus, the local population must protect this vibrant landscape.

Historical sites such as Chuong Temple, the Mother Goddess Shrine, and the Dia Ky Temple are all located within the market area. Therefore, surrounding families are not allowed to build houses taller than these temples, as this would disrupt the landscape of the nationally recognized historical sites.

This heritage is an invaluable gift from our ancestors. Therefore, it is essential to care for and protect it diligently for today and future generations.

The commune has established a Heritage Protection Committee. This committee advises the local authorities and village elders on maintaining and restoring damaged sites such as temples and shrines. Any major repairs must be reported to the Heritage Protection Committee, which will assess the situation, develop a plan, and present it to the local government. If repairs are needed, the entire community will be invited to participate.

How to preserve cultural heritages of spiritual life?

In addition, the Chuong Village Poetry Club, founded in 2002, includes 28 members who are retired officials from the military, local government, and political parties, who served during the wars against France and the United States. Over the past decade, the club has published four poetry collections with nearly a thousand poems celebrating the homeland, preserving cultural nuances and stories through verse:

"For hundreds of years, the golden stele welcomes,
The ancient love shines bright till now.
Words passed down on this land,
A stunning beauty, a thousand years of fortune.

To the north, scenic landscapes abound,
To the south, a vast green field.
By the Đoài River, waters twist and turn,
Boats come and go, bustling with trade."

Mấy trăm năm Bia vàng còn đón

Ân tình xưa sáng tỏ bấy nay

Lời truyền trên mảnh đất này

Cảnh đẹp tuyệt mỹ phúc đầy ngàn năm.

Phía bắc chợ danh lam thắng cảnh

Phía nam ngát một khoảng đồng xanh

Bên Đoài sông nước uốn quanh

Thuyền bè qua lại dập dềnh bán mua.

Tam Bảo thị được vua phát lộc

Người hiền tài Đô đốc Lê Công

Cùng bà Phan Thị má hồng

Gái Thời Trung kết chỉ hồng uyên ương.

Conclusion

Preserving traditional crafts and cultural heritage is crucial not only for maintaining identity but also for fostering sustainable tourism. Initiatives like the Heritage Protection Committee and the Chuong Village Poetry Club play vital roles in safeguarding this rich cultural legacy, ensuring that it continues to thrive for generations to come.
